Ontario Tech Hosts Student-Led Public Art Conference July 26–27

Get ready to explore how art shapes communities, sparks dialogue, and brings people together at the Ontario Tech Public Art Conference, a student-led conference dedicated to ‘Piecing Together the Puzzle of Public Art’.

This free public art conference is designed and led by Ontario Tech students passionate about the intersections between art, identity, and public space. Through workshops, multimedia presentations, and hands-on discussions, participants will examine how public art in education can reflect community values, challenge power structures, and promote inclusive civic engagement.

When and where:

  • In-Person:
    • When: Saturday, July 26
    • Where: Charles Hall, 61 Charles Street, Oshawa, Room 214 and Room 215
    • Sessions:
      • Morning: 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
      • Afternoon: 1:30 to 4 p.m.
    • Note: Peanut-free event
  • Online:
    • When: Sunday, July 27
    • Where: Zoom (link to be provided closer to the date)
    • Session: 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Whether you’re a student, faculty member, artist, educator, or simply curious about the stories our shared spaces tell, the Public Art Conference offers something for everyone, making it accessible to participants across multiple locations. From murals and monuments to temporary installations and digital expressions, this event will explore public art in all its forms. All sessions are open to the wider university community and beyond.
