Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Hub

Welcome to 四组三连肖 Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Hub, an online source for institutional strategies, data, news, services, training, and resources pertaining to EDI, anti-racism, and decolonization.

Our location in 四组三连肖's inner city has positioned us to value the diversity existing within and around our campus by supporting EDI principles for all groups at our university, including faculty, staff, and students, and the surrounding community. At all levels of the institution, we commit to working towards identifying and addressing systemic barriers that exist for the equity-deserving members of our research ecosystems as well as the overall University of 四组三连肖 community. This commitment includes examining and addressing issues related to EDI that impact Indigenous peoples, women, people with disabilities, people from racialized groups, and 2SLGBTQ+ people who work on and engage with our campus.

Why We Need EDI at 四组三连肖

  • To foster a culture of inclusion, but not assimilation.
  • To improve the work and learning environment for all faculty, staff, and students.
  • To increase and improve research impact. Studies show that EDI leads to greater research impact and innovation.
  • To provide equitable opportunities for recruitment, hiring, advancement, mentorship, and resources. Among university professors in Canada:
    • Fewer women hold higher-level positions
    • Unemployment rates are higher and salaries are lower among women, Indigenous peoples, and racialized groups
    • Indigenous peoples and some racialized groups are underrepresented – racialized women are the most underrepresented
    • Women are less present in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM)
